Day 1 - I lucked out today. Last evening my mother and I enjoyed a rib roast dinner with home canned green beans, fresh brussel sprouts and baked potatoes. For dessert we had ice cream with my Grandmother's recipe for chocolate sauce. The roast was intended for Christmas dinner but last minute guests could not not come and we were invited to join friends for a turkey dinner. The roast needed to be cooked so we enjoyed it for a New Year's Eve dinner. There is quite a bit of roast and some brussel sprouts leftover for this week.
My second piece of luck was to be invited to a local Casino for breakfast. Between the three of us we had enough points to reduce the price of breakfast from $6 to $2. The Casino serves a huge buffet with everything you can imagine and drinks are complementary. I had a lovely breakfast of a freshly cooked Belgium waffle, bacon and eggs, a piece of watermelon, orange juice and coffee. Someone else even picked up my $2 tab! So, no cost for breakfast and I had eaten enough to last till dinner time.
Gambling was on the menu today. I began with $15 and came home with $63.50. More luck to begin my new year? Not bad. I was thrilled! The casino offers free soda and coffee while you are gambling and I had a complementary tall glass of soda which I don't have very often. I have stopped buying soda at the grocery store and ordering it while out to eat. Today it appealed to me and to tell you the truth I am loosing my taste for it and wished I had had a glass of ice tea.
For dinner I had a piece of roast and some left over brussel sprouts. Ok ok so I had another dish of leftover ice cream with the chocolate sauce I admit it followed by a cup of tea.
Out of my pantry today: 1 tea bag I am off to a flying start!
Mamie's Chocolate Sauce
2 squares of dark unsweetened chocolate
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon of vanilla
pinch of salt
large pat of butter
1 1/2 cup water
2 heaping tablespoons of corn starch
Combine ingredients and melt together in a double boiler stirring often. Cook down till thickened to taste. This is not a thick fudge sauce but a thinner sauce great as a topping for ice cream or cake. Very simple to make and very tasty!

I like your self-imposed challenge. I think my food supply is adequate to do this, and it would definitely show me my weak spots. I might just have to try it. I almost feel like I'd be cheating since I have my own milk cow!
CFG it would be a grea thing to do because you will find that one missing link that could make all the difference at a time it will be needed most. As to the cow you are lucky!
