Unbelievable
Today I began by making cabbage, organic hamburger and brown rice mix. Without looking I got the pressure canner ready and put on the lid and torched it up to begin heating it. I came out again (remember I can outside with turkey fryer stoves) and looked at the gauge to see how it was doing. It was full of ear wig bugs!! They must have climbed inside the gauge through the small opening on the bottom during the night because it would have been warm still from yesterday's work. There was no way to get them out so they had to be sacrificed. I have never seen ear wigs in anyone's gauge before or heard of such a thing. Have you??????

Blah!! No, never heard of that but I will forever be on the look out for it now!!
Ewww! What a mess to clean out. Well, ashes to ashes dust to dust right?
Do you mean earwigs? They are a pain and destructive little buggers to boot. We have lots of them here and I am not a fan of them. Anything left outside they like to check out for potential hiding places. Found that out one year when I put my hand into my gardening glove and there were a bunch inside. *shudder*
I also do my canning out doors... But this I have never heard of... I will be on the watch out now.
