What matters not is that the writing is beyond the usual scope of a third grader. Most likely this piece of literature was penned by an older child and probably was a group effort. What matters is the underlying issue: the use of the word bitch.
According to Wikipedia, the word bitch "In literal, non-slang use, bitch is a term for female canines, particularly amongst dogbreeders. It is also a common English profanity for a woman that typically carries denigrating or misogynistic overtones—such as resemblance to a dog. It is also used to characterize someone who is belligerent and unreasonable, or displays rudely intrusive or aggressive behavior.
Its original use as a vulgarism, documented to the fourteenth century, suggested high sexual desire in a woman, comparable to a bitch in heat. The range of meanings has expanded in modern usage. In a feminist context, it can indicate a strong or assertive woman, one who might make men feel threatened. When applied to a man, "bitch" is a derogatory term for a subordinate."
I maintain that the word bitch is representative of a long standing separation between men and women and the common belief supported by most religions that men are superior to women in some mysterious way. To think young children of any age could come up with such a list is despicable and evidence that this belief has even reached the impressionable minds of children.
I only wish there was a campaign being waged with as much enthusiasm as the enthusiasm that is used to keep this derogatory word alive and current. When women have arisen to stand up for themselves by demanding an equal vote or burning their bras or requesting equal pay they are laughed at, scorned and made fun of by the media, religion and the opposite sex. Worldwide there are even still laws supporting the fact that women are lesser than men and should be treated differently. Differences must stop and soon. Ones sex should not make one lesser.
I further maintain that all women worldwide should stand together and face the responsibility of being equal. Abolish birkas, separate seating for women in religious buildings, child weddings, child prostitution, child slavery, forced sterilization, beatings, verbal abuse, forced abortion. genital mutilation and other debauchery performed against the female species and take on the responsibility of self sufficiency. No more depending on men. Work on partnerships or be strong enough to go it alone.
This may be the most radical I have ever felt and all because of a list of meaning of the word bitch. I vow to never use the word again and when faced with the word I will go into my explanation of why it's use degrades women.

Sweet so the writer of the article wants total equality which will:

Make it mandatory for women to register for the draft same as men?

Stop the women studies bias in grade and high schools and even out the gender bias in the drop out rate.

Perhaps teach young white boys they are not the off-spring of evil oppressors instead of the bias crap they are taught in public schools today.

Even out the students attending college from 65% women to 50/50.

perhaps allow the current recession to be 50/50 as opposed to 85% men being laid off or unemployed.

Revoke affirmative action and VAWA legislative bias.

I could go on but no point. The word is not used anymore often then the one for men, and in fact I haven't seen any men walking around with "bastard" accessories but you can buy "bitch" t-shirts, key chains etc. for those women to wear proudly.

This world is entirely too touchy about name calling. This article is just more feminism victimization so they can get more of everything. Luckily there isn't any more to give them.

Oh Pioneer Preppy, from where do you come, young man? Your points are at least well worded, but truth remains elusive. The point has been missed. "Bastard" for men and "bitch" for women? Not even on the same scale. I shan't argue or belabor my point. I shall go to the source, me, and vow as our Frugal Fraulein did never to use the word, again. A very smart and savvy solution. Thank you!

All of my points are absolute truth that can be backed up.

As for using the word, you can or not as you please. All the same to me.

The last half of that article was pure feminist BS as usual trying to play some victim card and hoping for even more special entitlement.

It is you dear Anonymous who missed the truth.

Preppy, I am glad you expressed yourself but I have to say I don't agree with some of your points.

I am going to give it some thought before giving a knee jerk reaction.

Thank you for stiring up the pot!

FF I enjoy your blog and you have always seemed like a wonderful person with more than a fair amount of common sense, but you may not really know the damage 3rd wave feminism has wreaked on Western society.

I can back all of those points, and many more up with tons of reference. I also enjoy debating them especially with logical women who don't try and brand me a woman hater just for my stance.

Now off to work. May your mother and Mr. T heal swiftly today!!

Well, since we are in the dog vitamins business (http://www.UltimateHealthForDogs.com), and we are attending regional dog shows, we are very familiar with the true use of the word "bitch". It is used all the time with these dog owners.

While I agree the word is offensive and when used it is usually intended to hurt. But, so what! There are a lot of offensive words used in life intended to hurt. Can you outlaw all of them? Be thankful when someone intentionally says something to hurt you at least then you know them for what they are. Beware the person who hides their intent. There are a lot worse things in life then name calling.
